Project description
Urban computing research main challenges gravitate around the acquisition, integration, and analysis of big and heterogeneous data, increasingly generated by numerous sources (like sensors, devices, vehicles, buildings, and humans). Critically, to explore the challenges of the cities, like traffic and pollution, researchers and city planners have to build the whole data processing chain from the scratch, over and over again. Cities (or even regions within a city) have different kinds of sensors and data available. Hence, the knowledge gained from one city (or region of the city) is not transferable. This project (UrBOT) aims to contribute to solving such challenge by investigating into a framework that facilitates knowledge transfer between cities, through the use of transfer learning methods and Semantic Web technologies. This framework will include necessary components and methods supporting the development and application of knowledge transfer in urban computing field.
