Project description
Lack of simple and sensitive assay methodologies have slow down both biological and drug screening studies with different proteins and enzymes. During the recent years, multiple potential target proteins have been identified. However, without the methods to study function of these proteins and ability to target them with modulator molecules, final validation of these target proteins cannot be performed. Recently, many particle-based assay systems have been developed to answer these questions. The project aims not only to develop a novel Eu(III)-particle based homogeneous assay platform to monitor actions of potential drug targets e.g. K-Ras and eIF4A, but also select aptamers to be used as a binder and modulator for these targets. The project will follow a highly translational approach where selected aptamer and developed Eu(III)-particles are used not only to study biological functions but also screening and characterization of allosteric modulators in collaboration with our partners.
