Project description
Quantum processors that consist of quantum bits (qubits) are predicted to be faster than classical computers in certain computational tasks. Especially the superconducting variety of qubits has reached a sufficient level of maturity for system scale-up. During the scaleup, there is a risk that accompanying circuits for processor readout and control do not keep up. In this project, I address the problem by developing quantum hardware from superconducting radio-frequency circuits. One research topic is parametric amplifiers for the readout of qubits and sensors. The other research topic is control circuits for signal routing as an additional application of VTT's Josephson junction technology. The main goal of the project is the demonstration of innovative hardware concepts. This enables the project to support the quantum experiments of national and international partners with the amplifiers.
