Project description
Over the recent years, our understanding of the subatomic constituents of the matter in the Universe and how such building blocks came into being has made remarkable advances. However, the recent observations, such as the Higgs boson and the merger of two neutron stars, have opened up more questions. There are still significant gaps in our knowledge of the nature and evolution of matter on both a cosmic and a microscopic scale. It is uncertain how the matter in the early Universe evolved and why it dominates over the antimatter. The present action plan aims at completing Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research (FAIR GmbH) or studies towards deeper understanding of the fundamental interactions and constituents of the matter and the antimatter.
