Project description
Chemical biology and the development of new small molecules with specific biological activities, so called tool compounds, is of tremendous value as the starting point for discovery of new drugs, agrochemicals and other commercially valuable bioactive agents as well as for life science basic research. EU-OPENSCREEN, a European strategic research infrastructure initiative (ESFRI), will provide open access world class infrastructures, technologies and expertise to enable European researchers to develop new tool compounds based on their scientific ideas and expertise. All data and reagents generated within EU-OPENSCREEN will be made publicly available to ensure maximal scientific and societal impact of investments. On the Finnish national level, EU-OPENSCREEN will allow researchers to access the best possible chemical biology infrastructures and will make Finland a major European chemical biology hub, creating expertise, jobs and commercial development opportunities.
