Beskrivning av projektet
Developmental dyslexia is characterized by a difficulty to acquire reading skill, and it affects a large number of children. It may lead to learning problems, low self-esteem, and might prevent the achievement of full potential of the affected individual. The main aims of the current project are to determine the pattern of impaired speech processing and genetic makeup in dyslexia, the identification of early neural and genetic markers of dyslexia, and effects of early intervention on speech sound representations, which influence reading acquisition. This project illuminates the neural indices of core speech-perception processes and their deficits in dyslexia as well as their amelioration by intervention given to infants at risk for dyslexia.
