Beskrivning av projektet
Music is a ubiquitous part of everyday life, and the prominent motivation for engaging in music is for the self-regulation of emotional states. Adolescence is a crucial period for developing successful regulation strategies, as those who fail to do so are more likely to encounter social and mental problems as they reach young adulthood. The overall aim of the proposed project is to deliver personalised and contextual music listening strategies designed to support adaptive emotion regulation in adolescents. To achieve this, the project will integrate music psychology data collected through mobile experience sampling with music features and musical big data. This will be used to create a comprehensive machine learning model, which will be guided by healthy regulation directives from music therapy. This model will produce personalised music listening strategies, which will be tested in Finnish schools. The project will result in clear benefits and applications in science and beyond.
