Beskrivning av projektet
Our multi-disciplinary CoPSOI -consortium project provides new knowledge and attempts to explain differences in collaborative problem solving and online inquiry skills as well as their underlying processes. These are studied at the sixth grade before transition from the primary to secondary school and at the eighth grade when students increasingly meet the demands of online inquiry and collaborative problem solving. The project will employ research methods at multiple levels of explanation: a large-scale assessment at classroom level, eye-tracking and neurocognitive studies. The project has potential for high societal impact since skills studied are emphasized in the new Finnish National Core Curriculum. The knowledge produced in the project will produce a solid base for further developing assessment methods and tools for online inquiry and collaborative problem solving for school contexts as well as designing pedagogical practices for educating 21st century thinkers.
