Beskrivning av projektet
The purpose of this research project is to elucidate the socio-historical embeddedness of strategic decision-making processes and practices in the restructuring of the global ICT sector. The project includes two sub-projects: 1) A discursive analysis of how industrial restructuring in the ICT sector has been made sense of in the media and society, and 2) A historical analysis of explanations of success and failure in the case of four key corporations in the ICT sector. In part one, we will examine how industrial and strategic change has been made sense of in and around the companies involved, focusing on the discursive processes and practices related to strategy-making, identity-building and legitimacy. Part two concentrates on the historical construction of explanations for success and failure in the case groups. We analyze the historical explanations and narratives produced by the actors, media and academic researchers to better understand historically embedded corporate myth-making.
