Project description
The project tackles two key research directions for the field of DNA Nanotechnology. First, we want to develop a generic kinetic modelling framework for DNA assembly systems, in which any DNA-based dynamical mechanism can be embedded and simulated numerically. The second major research direction is the development of the fundamentals of the algorithmic design of 3D reinforced nanostructures by use of the innovative DNA-origami beam-scaffolding technique (DNA-BEAM). In conjunction with the above two main research directions, we also plan to apply the hereby developed kinetic modelling framework in order to analyze, from a kinetic perspective, several innovative designs of highly-efficient DNA self-assembly systems. A practical application of our methodology, to be investigated during this project, is the development of DNA-mediated assembly of nano-cellulose filters of precise nano-apertures.
