Project description
This project proposes the design and implementation of a novel concept, a Software Defined Hybrid Network (SDHN), combining a conventional radio network with an optical wireless network. The latter exploits Visible Light Communications (VLC) technology. Optical and radio networks are highly complementary, and the project will take advantage of this fact to create a versatile, flexible and low-cost communication network. In such a system the wireless network can be dynamically configured according to the changing conditions and requirements of scenarios, users, operators, and channels. The systems will be demonstrated on an experimental test-bed build with in-house designed integrated circuits.
