Our main aim is to create an in vitro disease model for epilepsy that includes “epileptic” networks cultured under stabile conditions in a
modular platform. Sensors and electrode arrays are integrated into the platform so that epileptic phenomena can be detected at a
functional level. Cell guiding structures enable a more in vivo like position of cells mimicking better the epilepsy circuits in the brain.
Integrated microfluidistics give additional control for medium flow and when correctly designed allow targeted drug testing in the
system. This model can be used as one entity platform to monitor epilepsy in a dish. It will be useable tool for the in vitro research of
disease mechanisms, drug development and screening and testing of neurotoxic compounds and to develop diagnostic tools to
