Project description
This proposal aims to revolutionize the way fundamental metrological measurements are performed. By incorporating two previously incompatible quantum standards, Josephson voltage and quantum Hall resistance standard, in a same cryogenic unit, universal quantum standard (UQS) for all electrical units, voltage (V), current (I), resistance (R) and impedance (Z), both at ac and dc can be realized. This has become realistic thanks to the development of pulse tube refrigerators and graphene-based quantum Hall resistance standards that require less magnetic field than before. The proposal supports calibration laboratories, industrial companies and measurement equipment producers with robust, simple-to-operate and economically practical traceability directly to the quantum standards. The UQS solidifies the basis of realization of the future SI unit system based on fixed values of fundamental constants.
