Project description
Cancer is a major societal and economical burden. While there has been extensive international effort in characterization of cancer genomes, understanding on how genomic aberrations drive the cancer progression is still lacking. Underlying hypothesis for the proposed project is that analysis of tumor specific data on chromatin state and interactions by mathematical modeling of the regulatory networks can lead to detailed understanding on how the genome aberrations reorganize the chromatin and thus enable the emergence of cancer phenotypes. Specifically we want to uncover the mechanisms that are driving the aggressive lethal form of prostate cancer. We will generate the necessary chromatin data, develop computational methods that enable the proposed analysis and will experimentally validate the key discoveries.
