Project description
The international tax law system that is based on a heterogeneous network of bilateral tax treaties has become seriously outdated. Aggressive tax planning of multinational enterprises being the prime example. Recently, a new political agenda on international taxes has been set at the high international fora in OECD, EU and G20. Its main objective is to “fix the flaws” of the international tax system by implementing a wide range of new internationally agreed tax standards that would replace the conventional bilateral structure of international tax regulation. Scientifically, the new approach amounts to paradigm shift in international tax law. The objective of the project is to provide enhanced understanding on the paradigm change. The results are applicable and directly relevant to a variety of actors in the legislature, judiciary, academia as well as the business community. Project is based at Tampere University. Principal investigator of the project is professor Seppo Penttilä.
