Project description
Current anti-angiogenic therapies targeting the VEGF signalling pathway are associated with therapy resistance in both cancer and neovascular eye diseases, indicating a need for new vascular targeting approaches, including inhibition of pathological vascular leak a hallmark of inflammation. This project will develop innovative proof-of-concept vascular therapies based on Angiopoieitin-2 inhibition in pathological vascular leak and angiogenesis in sepsis, cancer and ocular neovascularization. The expected outcomes include important insights into endothelial signalling and lead antibodies to control vascular sprouting, permeability and endothelial activation for development of next-generation targeted therapies.
