Project description
The aim of this project is to increase our understanding of how different human resource management practices (for example, performance appraisal criteria, compensation systems, orientation practices, training & development) can decrease, or increase, the risk of bullying and how human resource practices designed to address it (for example, mediation, disciplinary action, conflict management techniques) may mitigate the negative consequences associated with bullying. Over the last decades, workplace bullying has been established as a prevalent social stressor with severe detrimental outcomes for exposed employees, organizations, and the society at large. Still, our understanding of how this problem can be managed is very limited. By increasing our understanding of effective preventive measures and organizational responses we will thus be better equipped to address one of many factors contributing to early retirements and loss of productivity.
