Project description
Distal radius fracture (DRF) is the most common upper extremity fracture. Treatment options varies and high quality studies are lacking. Existing studies have small sample sizes, irrelevant outcome measures and selection biases leading to controversial conclusions in treatment. We aim for 5 separate trials to clarify the treatment of DRF's. Trials are designed to assess efficacy of surgery, cast position and optimal rehabilitation. With our large existing Nordic-collaboration and previous knowledge on RCT's it is possible to run each trial within one year each. After 2 years follow-up we are able to draw conclusions. Implementation is executed in co-operation with national trustworthy guidelines committees, professional organisations in each participating country. Implementation of the research results is also spread out to the public in co-operation with national patient’s associations and media coverage.
