The ‘Taking the Leap’ research project is a three-year investigation into the conditions under which existing Finnish SMEs and entrepreneurs will ‘leap’ into the use of new Finnish sourced bio materials and the extent to which some level of ‘Sisu’ (grit) is needed for the ‘leap’ to be a success.
The Finnish economy has been stuck in a prolonged period of slow growth. In the bio economy, Finland has a natural advantage from its rich wood-based natural resources. The adoption of new environmentally friendly Finnish materials is one of the keys to exploiting this natural advantage. The research will involve a large number of Finnish SMEs, and will spread the ideas and innovations relating to the bioeconomy and catalyse the emergence of bioeconomy ecosystems.
The project will be carried out by a consortium led by Aalto University School of Business alongside the University of Vaasa Department of Management and the University of Jyväskylä Department of Psychology.
