World is being increasingly and very rapidly electrified. This is particularly seen in the development of the transport sector; electrical vehicles have been in operation for some time already and their number is expected to increase largely.
The development trends necessitate a change on the part of the electrical machines and drives, too. Modern electrical machine should compact and energy and cost efficient. In order to meet the strict requirements, less conventional electrical machine topologies, and material and manufacturing innovations must be explored, too, alongside the more traditional means.
This research project aims at investigating and exploiting the potential of additive manufacturing in the field of electrical machines with the aim to improve the material and cost efficiency of the application and to inspire radically new designs with proven benefits.
