Drones, intelligent sensors and artificial intelligence are revolutionary technologies. The new technologies can be harnessed when their potential is well known. Our project developed a method for modeling the uncertainty of drone mapping, including the traceable calibration of sensors and data, determination of uncertainty by simulating, and open test fields. We also developed machine learning methods and studied their uncertainties together with research institutes and companies. In experiments with drones, for example, the nutrient levels and yield estimates of cereals and grasses were determined, and forest inventory measurements were made. The uncertainty modeling method and the piloted infrastructure support Finnish companies in the sustainable development of new equipment and artificial intelligence and enables testing of Finnish hi-tech products and rapid import on the market. Our research results help adaptation of new robotic technologies by companies and society.
