Beskrivning av projektet
Behavior is the final output of sensory processing. Behavioral testing of various animals is a crucial part of neuroscience. It is a key step towards understanding the fundamental link between neural circuit function and behavior in healthy and diseased animal models. A major challenge currently is that most commercially available tools to characterize and manipulate freely-moving animal behavior are limited. My lab has recently created a fully automated tracking system of freely-moving mice at low light levels that allows tracking of both the body position and the head direction of mice with superior performance. In this project, we will further develop our tracking system such that it will become compatible with a variety of behavioral paradigms and animal models. We will make this technology available to the global neuroscience community to increase its impact. To achieve this, we have put together a network of national and international word-leading collaborators.
