The CESSDA provides integrated and sustainable data services to the social sciences. CESSDA is an ESFRI Landmark in the ESFRI 2016 Roadmap. CESSDA Service Providers serve annually over 30,000 researchers and students within the European Research Area, providing access to 25,000+ data collections and delivering over 70,000+ data collections. As the Finnish Service Provider, FSD needs to meet CESSDA’s obligations and develop capacity and competence in areas defined by the obligations. FSD wishes to have an active role in shaping CESSDA in its building phase.
The RI project for 2017–2021 is based on FSD’s proposal included in the Finland’s Strategy and Roadmap for Research Infrastructures 2014–2020. This work plan focuses on fulfilling the CESSDA requirements and on active participation in CESSDA. Service Providers need to invest resources to administrative tasks and communications. Building integrated services involves sharing expertise as well as gaining new competences.
