Skolt Saami Memory Bank of Saami Culture Archive (University of Oulu) is a new model, consisting of both data management of archive sources and organised culture revitalisation work done in co-operation with already existing network of cultural institutions and social organisations.
It is a tool for repatriation of archive material, in participation and interaction with the Skolt Saami community. The aim is to help the Skolt Saamis revitalise and develop their own traditional culture.
The project will support the utilisation of the results and societal impact of the Principal investigator Marko Jouste present research. The project has two research assistants and one doctoral student.
The expected result will be new research data on practical revitalisation process and developing local education on traditional cultural heritage, especcially music. Project is expected to enhance the local culture entrenepeurship by strengtning the status and conditions of Skolt Saami culture.
