In the present project, we have further developed and utilized a previously developed algorithm to predict the progression of osteoarthritis.
The most important results:
- Based on 21 subjects, the further developed algorithm was able to predict the progression of osteoarthritis in a patient-specific manner. These results were consistent with experimental evidence.
- We developed a Matlab-based software, which is able to provide within two hours a personalized prediction of the progression of knee osteoarthritis. Results showed that the software was able to separate different patient groups from each other.
- Information about osteoarthritis and its prediction and treatment has been disseminated through web pages, popularized articles, tweets, blogs. The project has also produces 12 journal articles and 1 invention disclosure.
The algorithm may offer a novel clinical tool for prediction of the progression of osteoarthritis.
