With the modern measurement tools, it is possible to measure massive amounts of data (so called Big Data) from a single cancer patient. In this project we have developed and applied visualization tools that facilitate interpretation of Big Data from a cancer patient and developed a functional infrastructure for the analysis of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) obtained from a cancer patientís plasma. CtDNA allows effective monitoring of a cancer patientís response to therapy and the mutations can guide treatment decisions in cases where the patient does not respond to standard-of-care therapy. Likewise other medical Big Data, ctDNA data requires computational methods and in particularly visualization tools to be properly used in cancer research and patient care. So far we have collected samples from 15 patients; our results show that ctDNA can be used in disease monitoring and suggesting effective treatments.
