Beskrivning av projektet
Prostate cancer (PC) is the most prevalent cancer among males in most western countries. PC may be either totally harmless or lethal during the lifetime of an individual male. The advance in imaging techniques is revolutionizing the diagnosis of PC among other neoplasms. However, there is a need for validated feedback for the radiologists and the treating physicians about the lesions detected in the MRI images. Multiparametric and multidisciplinary diagnostic regime, optimized for an individual patient, would save financial resources and spare the patient for unnecessary diagnostic procedures and treatments. This Key Project will combine biomarker studies with high-end image analysis research and multiparametric MRI imaging. The end-users will be MRI device and software developers, companies working with health care data and academic and non-academic collaborators researching the lethal propensities of PC. The ultimate goal is to develop tools for individualized management of PC.
