Heart rate variabilities show complex long-term correlations hat are not yet utilized in clinical research or in commercial applications. In this project we have developed and applied computational methods, which take heart rate analysis into a new level. We have resolved the complex dependencies between the electrical function of the heart and the pulse. With this information we can predict severe arrythmias and other cardiac diseases more precisely than before. In addition, we have achieved new result on the beat rate behavior of heart cell clusters fabricated with novel stem-cell techniques. With these results we have obtained new understanding of the cellular-level factors behind heart rate variability. The clinical and commercial applications of these results in ECG analysis and sport physiology are currently being examined with the leading researchers and companies in the field.
