In this research project, the topic is the recent breakthrough in the wireless communications area, full-duplex radio. Full-duplex radio is an innovation that allows data transmission using the same frequency band for simultaneuous transmission and reception. This approach minimizes network delays and signalling, and is spectrally very efficient. Full-duplex technology potentially significantly improves throughtput and energy efficiency of radio devices.
Specifically, the topic the challenged in planning and building a full-duplex radio devices. The ultimate goal is to develop enabling technologies for commercialization of full-duplex technology.
The results are promising. The full duplex technology is beginning to seem more and more realistic for commercial use.
Some of the topics of the project also included tackling the challenges in more traditional duplexing methods.
