Project description
In the project novel lead-free flexoelectric composites will be developed and their properties will be investigated keeping in mind actuator, sensor and energy harvesting applications. Strain gradients in flexoelectric materials are in essential role in their operations. Therefore flexoelectric behaviour of different ceramic compositions as a function of pre-stress and structural gradients will be investigated in order to maximise electromechanical coefficients. Properties of the manufactured samples will be modelled analytically and by FEM modelling which will be then utilised to optimise pre-strains/pre-stress and gradients in structures. In addition, new flexoelectric components will be developed in order to demonstrate feasibility in practise.
