The project considered mathematical solving of common control problems appearing in process industry. We developed new effective numerical algorithms for solving time dependent control problems. The mathematical background was investigation and numerical verification of the solution methods for variational inequalities and optimal control problems.
The achieved research results are presented in 3 international conferences and published in 5 international journals. Results are widely applicable in industry, e.g. for optimal cooling of steel casting in metal industry or for optimal harvesting in forest industry. Important feature is the efficiency of developed algorithms, which is based on algorithm decomposition in time or space.
This research was carried out in cooperation with University of Oulu, unit of mathematical sciences and Kazan Federal University, Institute of Computational Mathematics & Information Technology.
