Project description
The economic and political organizational environment of civil society organizations in Sub-Saharan Africa is under continuous change that affects the organizational forms, goals, and resource base. This research investigates Tanzanian and Ugandan civil society organization as hybrid organizations, defined as organizations that make use of and enact different institutional logics available in societies, and forms cultural hybrids in their relationships with the international development aid. With the method of organizational ethnography the research analyses enactment of different logics, emerge of cultural hybrids, and power struggles between different logicst at the level of organizational practices. Research produces new knowledege on the dynamics of civil society, and applies institutional logics approach in novel societal contexts.
