Project description
This study examines studentsí achievement strategies, or the patterns of achievement-related beliefs and behaviors, during the transition from primary school to lower secondary school. The study seeks to create an integrative framework of constructs of motivation, temperament, executive function, and academic buoyancy in order to establish a comprehensive understanding of achievement strategies and of their role in learning and adaptation during a school transition. The main aim of the study is, first, to examine the development of achievement strategies and their role in academic achievement during the transition from primary school to lower secondary school. Second, the aim is to examine the contribution of temperament and executive function in studentsí achievement strategies, over and above the effect of motivational factors. Third, the study aims to investigate the role of academic buoyancy in achievement strategies and in their relationship with academic achievement.
