Project description
The project opens new area of research combining the state of the art molecular materials level spectroscopic methodology to the atmospheric and planetary research. The project aims on multiform research on electronic structure and molecular level chemistry of environmentally, atmospherically and astrophysically interesting systems. The focus is on the atmospheric ion production, formation and behaviour of environmental clusters, their interaction with charged particles and photons, and the chemical reactions occurring at cluster surface at the conditions present at the upper atmosphere (mesosphere/ionosphere) and in cosmic dust formation. The project benefits the availability and the unique properties of synchrotron radiation in international facilities and state of the art ion source to probe the clusters and molecular complexes and also to simulate the conditions of the UV soft X-Ray region of the sunlight at ionosphere and planetary media.
