Project description
We have investigated the origin of high-energy solar particles. The research was carried out by using data sets form space-borne and ground-based measurements. Space-borne particle observations were combined with observations of the world-wide neutron monitor network and with measurements of solar electromagnetic radiation at various wavelengths. Analysis of the high-energy particle events and interpretation of the measurements was done by modelling of the particle transport from a near-Sun source through the solar wind to a detector onboard the spacecraft or further through the Earth's magnetosphere and atmosphere to a detector on ground. We have revealed the high-energy particle sources in several events and developed models of particle acceleration by shocks driven by coronal mass ejections and by the shock-amplified turbulence in coronal loops and in the realistically structured environment near the Sun, which help us to understand the origins of the high-energy particle events.
